Ingredients:
Cottage cheese and oil
Pastry (1)
FILLING:
1 lbsTo 1 ?lb (500-700g)
Apples
1 3/4 ozTo 2 ?oz (50-75g)sugar
1 3/4 oz(50g) sultanas (washed and
Well drained)
3 To 4 drops baking essence
Lemon flavor
FOR BRUSHING:
A little milk
ICING:
3 1/2 oz(100g) icing sugar
1 tbspOr 2 hot water
Procedures:
1For the filling: peel and core apples and cut itno pieces.
2Add the sugar and the sultanas and stew for a short time over a slow heat, stirring all the time.
3Cool well through, sweeten to taste, then add the baking essence.
4Roll out the pastry thinly and cut out round shapes 4 in (10cm) in diameter.
5Pile some of the filling onto one half of the round and brush the edges thinly with milk.
6Fold over the free half of the round and use a baking essence bottle to press the edges well together.
7Lay on a greased baking sheet.
8Oven: moderately hot baking time: about 15 min. for the icing: sieve the icing sugar and blend with as much of the water as will give a good coating consistency.
9Brush the turnovers with the icing as soon as they come out of the oven
