Jana's rice medley

Ingredients:
1/2 cupUncooked long-grain rice
1/2 lbsLean ground beef
1 tspCajun seasoning
1/4 tspGarlic powder
1/8 tspFreshly ground black pepper
1/2 cupGrated carrot (about 1)
1/4 cupFinely chopped onion
1/2 cupCoarsely chopped mushrooms
2 tbspGreen or red pepper, diced
2 tbspSoy sauce
Procedures:
1Cook rice according to package directions.
2Meanwhile, cook meat in a large skillet, preferably non-stick, over medium heat.
3Stir frequently until no longer pink.
4Drain fat, then stir in seasoning, garlic powder and pepper.
5When rice is cooked, add to the meat mixture and stir to combine.
6Stir in vegetables and soy sauce.
7Cook mixture over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally until vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes.
8Taste and adjust seasoning.
