Julie smith's french toast strata

Ingredients:
1 lbsLoaf of French bread
8 ozCream cheese, cubed
- (1 package)
8 Eggs
2 1/2 cupMilk, light cream or
- half and half
6 tbspMargarine or butter, melted
1/4 cupMaple syrup
Procedures:
1Cut french bread in cubes.
2Place half of bread cubes in bottom of a greased 3-quart casserole dish.
3Sprinkle cubed cream cheese on bread.
4Add remaining bread cubes.
5In a large bowl, beat until well blended the eggs, milk, melted margarine or butter and maple syrup.
6Pour mixture over bread cubes and press down with a spatula.
7Cover with plastic wrap.
8Refrigerate for 2 to 24 hours.
9Remove wrap and bake at 325 °F for 35 to 40 minutes.
10Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
11Serve with hot butter syrup.
