Ingredients:

| tsp | Cooking fat (butter, oil | | | -or margarine) or cooking | | | -spray | | 1
| large | Onion, coarsely chopped | | 1
| med | Head cabbage, shredded | | 2
| | Red delicious apples, cored | | | -and thinly sliced | | 2
| can | Whole small potatoes | | 1
| tsp | Granular beef bouillon | | 2
| tsp | Fennel seed | | 1
| lbs | Reduced fat kielbasa | | | -(Polish sausage) | | 1/2
| cup | Water | | | Freshly ground pepper |

Procedures:
| 1 | In a large, nonstick dutch oven with a lid, melt fat over medium heat, then stir in the chopped onion. | | 2 | Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onion is pale yellow and soft. | | 3 | Turn down heat to low. | | 4 | Leave onion in the bottom of the pan where it will begin to brown and turn very sweet. | | 5 | Pile the shredded cabbage on top. | | 6 | Sprinkle with beef bouillon. | | 7 | Add the sliced apples, fennel seed and pepper. | | 8 | Cut the kielbasa into 6 pieces. | | 9 | Slit each piece about 1/3 through. | | 10 | Place on top of the apples. | | 11 | Add the canned potatoes and water. | | 12 | Cover. | | 13 | Turn the heat up to high until the water begins to boil, then reduce heat to simmer. | | 14 | About after 5 minutes, stir the pot until all the items are evenly mixed. | | 15 | Continue cooking until the cabbage is tender crisp and all other ingredients are hot |
