Ingredients:
| 4
| tbsp | Vegetable oil | | 1/2
| tsp | Cumin seeds | | 4
| | Garlic cloves, chopped | | 1
| med | Onion, chopped | | 1
| cup | Lentils, washed & drained | | 3
| cup | Water | | 1
| tsp | Salt | | 1/4
| tsp | Cayenne |

Procedures:
| 1 | Heat oil over medium heat. | | 2 | When hot, add cumin seeds & let sizzle for a few seconds. | | 3 | Add the garlic & stir-fry till the garlic changes colour. | | 4 | Put in the onion & stir-fry until they begin to brown at the edges. | | 5 | Add the lentils & water. | | 6 | Bring to a boil, cover & simmer for about an hour, or until the lentils are tender. | | 7 | Add salt & cayenne. | | 8 | Stir to mix & cook another 5 minutes |
