Ingredients:

| cup | Shortening | | 1
| x | Fruit, stewed | | 1
| tsp | Salt | | 1/3
| cup | Water, cold |

Procedures:
| 1 | Sift the flour and salt together, cut in the shortening and mix with hands. | | 2 | Add water. | | 3 | Roll out about 1/8 inch thick on a floured board. | | 4 | Cut with a large cookie cutter about 4 inches in diameter. | | 5 | In each round, place 1 ?tbsp sweetened mashed fruit (dried apricots, peaches, prunes or thick apple sauce). | | 6 | Moisten edges with cold water, fold to make semi-circle and press edges together with a fork. | | 7 | Fry in deep fat |
