Almond-topped pear pie

Ingredients:
3 tbspCornstarch
1/4 tspGinger, Ground
1/8 tspSalt
1/2 cupDark Corn Syrup, Karo
2 tbspButter Or Regular Margarine
1 tspLemon Juice
1/2 tspLemon Rind, Grated
1 Unbaked 9-inch Pie Shell
4 Pears, Medium, *
ALMOND TOPPING
1 cupUnbleached Flour
1/2 cupBrown Sugar, Firmly Packed
1/4 tspGinger, Ground
1/2 cupButter Or Regular Margarine
1/2 cupAlmonds, Coarsely Chopped
Procedures:
1* the pears should be pared and thinly sliced.
2There should be about 4 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++ combine the cornstarch, ginger and salt in a large bowl.
3Add the corn syrup, melted butter, lemon juice and lemon rind, stirring until smooth.
4Add the pears and toss until well coated with the corn syrup mixture.
5Arrange the mixture into the unbaked pie shell.
6Prepare the almond topping and sprinkle over the pears.
7Bake in a preheated 400 °F.
8Oven for 15 minutes, then reduce the heat to 350 °F.
9And bake an additional 30 minutes or until the topping and crust are golden brown.
10Cool on a wire rack.
11Almond topping: combine the flour, brown sugar, and ginger in a bowl.
12Cut in the butter, using a pastry blender, until crumbly.
