Ingredients:

| | Egg whites | | 1/4
| tsp | Cream of tartar | | 1 1/2
| cup | Granulated sugar | | 5
| tbsp | Finely crushed walnuts | | 5
| | Egg yolks | | 2
| tbsp | Lemon juice | | 3
| tbsp | Grated orange rind | | 1/8
| tsp | Salt | | 1
| pint | Heavy cream | | 5
| | Florida oranges |

Procedures:
| 1 | Meringue: heat oven to 275°F. | | 2 | Beat egg whites until foamy, add cream of tartar and beat to stiff peaks. | | 3 | Gradually add 1 cup sugar and continue beating to very stiff peaks. | | 4 | Spread over a 9-inch pie plate which has been greased thoroughly, just to the edge. | | 5 | Sprinkle edge with finely chopped walnuts. | | 6 | Bake 1 hour. | | 7 | Cool. | | 8 | Filling: beat egg yolks slightly and add ?cup sugar, lemon juice, grated orange rind and salt. | | 9 | Cook over boiling water, stirring constantly until thick, about 10 minutes. | | 10 | Fold in 2 oranges which have been peeled and diced. | | 11 | Cool and fold in 1 cup whipped cream. | | 12 | Pour this mixture into center of meringue and smooth over. | | 13 | Chill 12 hours or longer in refrigerator. | | 14 | Just before serving, top with mounds of whipped cream (1 cup), leaving room for center to be filled with orange sections. | | 15 | Top cream with grated orange rind and decorate around center edge with orange slices. | | 16 | (grand prize winner, second all-florida orange dessert contest) |
