Maple walnut pie

Ingredients:
2 tbspButter
1/4 cupFlour
1 cupMaple syrup
1/2 cupWater (use freash maple sap
3/4 cupWalnut halves or pieces
1 xPastry for one 8" or 9" pie
Procedures:
1Melt butter in small saucepan.
2Add flour all at once.
3Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture is golden brown.
4Add syrup and water and cook, whisking constantly until thickened.
5Allow to cool for 10 minutes.
6Add nuts.
7Pour warm filling into prepared pie shell.
8Bake at 350?on center rack of oven for 35 to 40 minutes or until filling is set and crust is golden brown.
9Cool on wire rack.
10May be decorated with nuts, pastry maple leaves, etc.
11Best if garnished with whipped cream
