Grandma keeter's coconut cream pie

Ingredients:
PIE
3 Egg yolks, well beaten
2 cupMilk, whole
3/4 cupSugar, granulated
1/3 cupFlour, all-purpose
1/4 tspSalt
2 tspButter, unsalted
1 tspVanilla
1 1/3 cupCoconut
1 Pie shell, 9", baked
MERINGUE
3 Egg whites
1/2 tspVanilla
1/4 tspCream of tartar
6 tbspSugar, granulated
Procedures:
1Preheat oven to 350°F.
2In a med. saucepan, combine egg yolks and milk; mix well.
3Add sugar, flour, and salt.
4Cook over med. heat until thick; stirring constantly.
5Remove from heat.
6Add butter, vanilla, and 1 cup of coconut.
7Pour into baked pie shell.
8Spread meringue over filling, sealing edges to crust, and sprinkle with 1/3 cup remaining coconut.
9Bake for 12 to 15 mins.
10Makes 6 to 8 servings.
11Meringue: beat egg whites with vanill and cream of tartar until soft peaks form.
12Gradually add sugar, beating until stiff
