| 1 | Prepare pastry shell. |
| 2 | Put aside. |
| 3 | Pare and core about 8 cooking apples. |
| 4 | Cut into quarters then cut these in half.place in large bowl and set aside. |
| 5 | Combine and mix well the ?c sugar, 2 t flour. |
| 6 | ?ts. |
| 7 | Cinnamon or nutmeg( the recipe calls for nutmeg but person giving this recipe likes cinnamon better) sprinkle over apple chunks and toss lightly. |
| 8 | Spoon into prepared shell. |
| 9 | Sprinkle the 2 t lemon juice over top. |
| 10 | Topping: combine in bowl ?c sugar, ?c flour, mix well and add ?c butter or margarine and cut in with pastry blender or two knives until like course cornmeal. |
| 11 | Sprinkle this mixture over top of pie. |
| 12 | Slide pie into a large supermarket paper bag. |
| 13 | Fold open end twice and fasten with paper clips or staple. |
| 14 | Place on a baking sheet and bake at 425°F for 1 hour. |
| 15 | Remove from oven, split bag open and cool pie on wire rack. |
| 16 | Do not open bag while baking. |
