Ingredients:
1/2 cupButter or margerine
2 cupGranulated sugar
3 1/2 cupCake flour
1/2 tspSalt
3 tspBaking powder
1 1/2 cupIce water
1/4 tspAlmond flavoring, (optional)
4 Egg whites, stiffly beaten
Procedures:
1Cream shortening.
2Gradually add sugar, beating until fuffy.
3Sift dry ingredients together.
4Add alternately with ice water and flavoring, if desired, to creamed shortening.
5Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
6Bake in 2 greased cake layer pans at 350 °F.
7For 30 minutes.
8Makes 1 layer cake.
