Red plum chutney

Ingredients:
2 lbsRipe red plums
1 lbsCooking apples
1 lbsOnions
2 Garlic cloves
1 lbsSultanas
1 pintDistilled malt vinegar
1 pinchMixed spice
1/2 tspLevel ginger
1 lbsDemerara sugar
Procedures:
1Wash, halve and de-stone the plums.
2Peel, quarter and core the apples.
3Peel and roughly chop the onions.
4Peel and crush the garlic.
5Put all the fruit and vegetables in a preserving pan with the sultanas, vinegar and spices.
6Bring to a boil, stirring frequently, then simmer for 30 - 40 minutes until the ingredients are very soft.
7Add the sugar.
8Stir over gentle heat until completely dissolved and then simmer uncovered until thick and jam-like.
9Spoon into clean warm jars.
10Cover.
