Ingredients:

| cup | Dark lentils | | 1
| cup | Long-grain rice | | 1
| tsp | Salt | | 3
| med | Onions, chopped | | 2
| tbsp | Oil |

Procedures:
| 1 | Put lentils & rice in separate pots. | | 2 | Pour enough boiling water over the lentils to cover them. | | 3 | Add 1 ?c boiling water to rice. | | 4 | Simmer both pots, covered, over low heat for 20 minutes. | | 5 | Drain & combine in one large pot. | | 6 | Addsalt & another ?c water. | | 7 | Cover & simmer 15 to 20 minutes until both rice & lentils are tender. | | 8 | Meanwhile, fry the onions in oil until golden. | | 9 | Stir them into the rice before serving |
