Ham-cheese crescent pinwheels

Ingredients:
4 ozRefrigerated crescent rolls
2 ozBoiled ham, thinly sliced
2 tspPrepared mustard
1 1/2 ozProcessed American cheese
-- shredded
Caraway or sesame seed
-OR- poppy seed
Procedures:
1Preheat oven to 375°F (moderate).
2grease a baking sheet.
3Unroll crescent dough and seal perforated seams.
4Place ham slices on dough.
5Spread with mustard and sprinkle with shredded cheese.
6Starting with the longer side, roll tightly and seal edges.
7Cut into 18 slices, about ?inch each.
8place pinwheels on baking sheet.
9Sprinkle with caraway seed, sesame seed, or poppy seed, as desired.
10Bake until lightly browned, about 12 minutes.

12variation: date-nut crescent pinwheels -- omit ham, mustard, cheese, and seed.
13Mix together 1/3 cup finely chopped pitted dates, 2 tablespoons finely chopped walnuts, and 1 tablespoon orange juice.
14Spread mixture on unrolled crescent dough.
15Continue preparation as above.
