Minted fresh peas

Ingredients:
8 largeLettuce leaves
3 lbsGreen peas, shelled
3/4 tspSugar
3/4 tspSalt
1/8 tspPepper
1 1/2 tspFinely chopped fresh mint or
1/4 tspDried mint leaves
3 tbspButter or margarine
Procedures:
1Wash lettuce leaves and line a deep, 1 ?quart, heat- resistant, non-metallic casserole with half of the moist lettuce leaves.
2Top with peas.
3Sprinkle peas with sugar, salt, pepper, and mint and dot with butter.
4Cover peas with remaining lettuce leaves.
5Heat, covered tightly, in microwave oven 9 minutes or until peas are tender.
6Carefully tilt cover to allow steam to escape.
7Then remove cover.
8Remove lettuce leaves and toss peas well before serving.
9Variations: ?teaspoon dried chervil or savory may be substituted for dried mint leaves
