Ingredients:
1/2 cupButter (or margarine)
1/4 cupSugar, white
1 Egg
4 tbspCocoa
2 cupGraham wafer crumbs
1 cupCoconut
1/2 cupNuts, chopped
1/4 cupButter
3 tbspMilk
2 tbspVanilla custard powder
-(or pudding powder)
2 cupIcing sugar, sifted
4 Chocolate squares
-(semisweet)
1 tbspButter
Procedures:
1Mix the ?cup butter, white sugar, egg and cocoa.
2Set over boiling water and stir until mixture resembles a custard.
3Combine crumbs, coconut and nuts.
4Combine with the butter/sugar mixture, blending well.
5Spread and press tightly into a 9 x 9 inch pan.
6Cream the ?cup butter, milk, custard powder and icing sugar.
7Spread over mixture in pan.
8Melt the chocolate over hot water; add butter and blend well.
9Spread over the icing.
10Let set.
11Chill and keep refrigerated.

14The origin of the recipe seems to be lost in the mists of time, though everyone seems to agree that it comes from the town of nanaimo, in british columbia.
