Ingredients:

| cup | Brown sugar | | 2
| tbsp | Cornstarch | | 1
| cup | Water | | 5
| cup | Apples, peeled and sliced | | 1/2
| tsp | Cinnamon | | 1/4
| tsp | Nutmeg | | 1
| tbsp | Lemon juice | | | PASTRY | | 2
| cup | Flour | | 2/3
| cup | Shortening | | 1/2
| tsp | Salt | | 2
| | Egg yolks, beaten | | 1/4
| cup | Cold water | | 1
| tbsp | Lemon juice | | | GLAZE | | 1/2
| cup | Powdered sugar | | 1
| tbsp | Milk | | 1
| tbsp | Butter or margarine | | 1/2
| tsp | Vanilla |

Procedures:
| 1 | Combine sugar, cornstarch and butter in saucepan. | | 2 | Mix until well blended, add apples. | | 3 | Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. | | 4 | Remove from heat, stir in spices and lemon juice, set aside. | | 5 | For pastry, combine egg yolks, water and lemon juice. | | 6 | Blend into flour. | | 7 | Mixture will form a ball, divide in half. | | 8 | On lightly floured board, roll dough between 2 pieces of waxed paper to fit bottom and halfway up sides of 9x13 inch pan. | | 9 | Spread apple mixture over pastry. | | 10 | Roll remaining pastry to fit pan. | | 11 | Place on top of filling. | | 12 | Fold bottom pastry over and press to seal. | | 13 | Cut a few slits in top. | | 14 | Bake for 40 minutes at 400 degrees or until lightly browned. | | 15 | Combine ingredients for glaze and drizzle over cooled pastry. |
