Ingredients:
6 Eggs, separated
1 tspBaking powder
1 tspVanilla extract
1 tbspOlive oil
Flour -enough for soft dough
Salt - pinch
1/2 cupVegetable oil
1/2 cupShortening
SUGAR SYRUP
2 cupSugar
1 cupWater
1/2 cupLemon juice
Procedures:
1======================================================= ================== source: armenian and selected favorite recipes ======================================================= ================== beat egg whites until stiff, then add yolks and beat well.
2Add salt, vanilla and baking powder.
3Add enough flour to make a soft dough.
4Let stand 1 hour covered.
5divide dough into 2 balls.
6Roll out each ball as thin as possible.
7Cut into strips 1-inch wide.
8melt ?cup vegetable oil and ?cup shortening in deep pan.
9When the oil and shortening is melted and hot, roll the 1-inch strips of dough on a fork and place in the oil and continue curling the strips as you go along.
10Cook to a slight brown color and put on paper towels to absorb the oil and drain.
11sprinkle with powdered sugar or make sugar syrup.
12====================================================== ================== : sugar syrup ======================================================= ================== boil all ingredients together in a heavy pan for 30 min. and cool.
