Baked apple alaska

Ingredients:
5 Apples, cored and thinly
-sliced
3 tbspSugar
2 tspCornstarch
1/2 tspCinnamon
Pn Salt
1/8 tspCream of tartar
1/4 cupConfectioners sugar (10x)
3 Eggs (whites)
1 quartVanilla ice milk or
-ice cream
Procedures:
1Arrange sliced apples in a 9" pie plate.
2Combine sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon and salt.
3Sprinkle evenly over apples.
4Cover with aluminum foil.
5Bake in a 425 degree oven 30 minutes or until apples are just tender.
6Remove from oven, cool and refrigerate.
7This may be done ahead.
8At serving time, cover chilled apples with an even layer of ice milk or ice cream and place in freezer.
9Beat egg whites and cream of tartar until frothy.
10Gradulaly add 10x confectioners sugar, a tablespoon at a time.
11Continue beating until mixture stands in peaks.
12Spread meringue over ice milk being sure to bring it to the edge of the pie plate.
13Place pie plate in a roasting pan surrounded with ice cubes to keep cool.
14Bake in a very hot oven, 500 °F for 3 minutes or until meringue is lightly browned.
15Serve immediately.
