Ingredients:

| cup | Butter or margarine | | 1
| tbsp | Solid shortening | | 1/4
| tsp | Vanilla | | 1
| cup | Flour | | 1/8
| tsp | Salt | | | FILLING | | 4
| cup | Apples, peeled, cored, slice | | 16
| oz | Cream cheese, softened | | 1/2
| cup | Sugar | | 1/2
| tsp | Vanilla | | 2
| | Eggs | | | TOPPING | | 1/3
| cup | Sugar | | 1
| tsp | Ground cinnamon | | 1/3
| cup | Sliced almonds |

Procedures:
| 1 | In medium mixer bowl, beat sugar, margarine, shortening, and vanilla on medium speed of electric mixer til combined. | | 2 | Blend in flour and salt until crumbly. | | 3 | Pat onto the bottom of a 9" springform pan. | | 4 | Set aside. | | 5 | Place apple slices in a single layer in a shallow baking pan. | | 6 | Cover with foil. | | 7 | Bake in a 400°F oven for 15 minutes. | | 8 | Meanwhile, in a large mixer bowl, beat the cream cheese, sugar and vanilla until fluffy. | | 9 | Add the eggs, all at once, beating on low speed just until combined. | | 10 | Pour into dough-lined pan. | | 11 | Arrange warm apple slices on top of filling. | | 12 | Combine the remaing sugar and cinnamon. | | 13 | Sprinkle, with the almonds, on top of the warm apples. | | 14 | Bake, at 400°F, for 40 minutes or until golden. | | 15 | Cool. | | 16 | Remove sides and place cake on serving platter. | | 17 | Cover; chill 4-24 hours before serving. |
