Ingredients:
4 cupAll-Purpose Flour, Sifted
1 tspBaking Soda
1 tbspSugar
1 cupDried Currants
1 1/2 tspSalt
1 cupButtermilk
Procedures:
1Soda bread: this bread, which many consider the irish soda bread, is usually served at high teas and other important occasions.
2Sift flour, sugar, salt and baking soda into a large bowl.
3Stir in currants to coat with flour.
4Stir in buttermilk just until flour is moistened.
5Knead dough in bowl with lightly floured hands, 10 times.
6Turn dough out onto lightly floured cookie sheet and shape into an 8-inch round.
7Cut a cross into top with a floured knife.
8Bake in hot oven (400 degrees), for 40 minutes, until loaf turns golden and gives a hollow sound when tapped.
9Cool completely before slicing
