Gnocchi with marinara sauce

Ingredients:
2 tbspOlive Oil -- or salad oil
1 medOnion -- chopped
28 ozItalian Plum Tomatoes --
Canned
Sugar
Salt
3 largePotatoes -- 1 ?lb, peel
Quarter
1 cupFlour, All-Purpose
Parmesan Cheese -- grated

Procedures:
1About an hour before serving, prepare marinara sauce: in 12" skillet over medium heat, in hot oil, cook onion until tender.
2Stir in tomatoes with their liquid, 1 ?tsp. sugar, and 1 ?tsp salt; over high heat, heat to boiling.
3Reduce heat to med-low; cover and simmer 20 minutes.
4Meanwhile, boil potatoes in water 15 min. or until fork-tender.
5Drain and mash potatoes.
6In large bowl, mix mashed potatoes, flour, 1 tbsp sugar, and ?tsp salt to make a soft dough.
7On lightly floured surface, knead dough until smooth and slightly sticky.
8Cut dough into 12 pieces.
9Roll each peice into a ? diameter log.
10With floured fork, make indentations all the way down each log.
11Cut logs into 1 ? pieces (gnocchi) In 5 qt saucepot over high heat, heat 4 qts water to boiling.
12Add gnocchi.
13With slotted spoon, carefully remove gnocchi to platter as soon as they start to float.
14Spoon marinara sauce over gnocchi.
15If you like, sprinkle with parmesan.
16Without parmesan: 375 calories, 8 g.
