Derby mint julep

Ingredients:
SIMPLE SYRUP
2 cupSugar
2 cupWater
Fresh mint, uncrushed
JULEP
Finely crushed ice
1/2 tbspSimple syrup
2 ozKentucky whiskey
Sprig of mint
Procedures:
1Make a simple syrup by boiling sugar and water for 5 minutes without stirring.
2Fill a jar loosely with sprigs of fresh mint (uncrushed) and cover with the cooled syrup.
3Cap and refrigerate 12 to 24 hours.
4Discard the mint and make one julep at a time.
5Fill the julep cup with finely crushed ice, pour in syrup and kentucky whiskey.
6Frost a cup, stick in a sprig of mint and serve at once.
