Black forest trifle dessert

Ingredients:
1/2 packDevil's food cake mix
1/2 cupRum
21 ozCan cherry pie filling
CHOCOLATE CUSTARD
2/3 cupSugar
1/4 cupCocoa
1/8 tspSalt
3 Eggs, beaten
2 cupMilk
1 Toppings
1 cupWhipping cream
2 tbspPowdered sugar
1/4 cupSliced almonds, toasted
Procedures:
1Prepare cake mix according to package directions; cut into ?inch slices.
2Line bottom of 2 quart bowl of trifle dish with half of cake slices; sprinkle with 2-4 tbsp. rum.
3Spoon half of cherry pie filling over cake; top with half of choclate pudding.
4Repeat procedure with remaining cake, rum, pie filling and custard.
5Cover and chill.
6Beat whipping cream until foamy; gradually add powdered sugar, beating until soft peaks form.
7Spread over custard; garnish with almonds.
8Chocolate custard: combine first 3 ingredients in top of double boiler.
9Combine eggs and milk, gradually stir into dry mixture.
10Bring water in double boiler to a boil, reduce heat to low and cook custard, stirring constantly until thick.
11Cool.
12Dessert yields 6-8 servings
