Fire and ice tomatoes

Ingredients:
6 medTomatoes, quartered
1 medOnion, sliced
1 medGreen pepper, cut in strips
1/4 cupWater
1 1/2 tbspSugar
1 1/2 tspCelery salt
1 1/2 tspMustard seeds
1 largeCucumber, sliced
3/4 cupCider vinegar
1/4 tspSalt
1/2 tspCayenne pepper
1/8 tspBlack pepper
Procedures:
1In a large bowl combine tomatoes, onion, green pepper, and cucumber.
2In a small saucepan combine vinegar, water, sugar, celery salt, mustard seeds, salt, cayenne pepper and black pepper.
3Bring to a boil, boil 1 minute.
4Pour hot vinegar mixture over tomato mixture.
5Cover and refrigerate 8 hours or overnight to blend flavors.
6Serve with slotted spoon.
7My note: this is hot.
8Even daryl said it was too hot! i think biting into those mustard seeds really gets ya.
9I"d cut the cayenne in half and probably the mustard seeds too.
10It"s very pretty to look at, and was a nice tomato dish to have in the dead of winter.
11We served it with a fairly bland dish made from just some short grain brown rice and some peas, carrots, and corn thrown in at the end (frozen).
