Everlasting rumpot

Ingredients:
Mixed fruit (strawberries
-cherries -- apricots
Peaches, raspberries, plums
Redcurrants, grapes or
-melon)
Sugar, equal to weight of
-fruit
Light or dark rum
Procedures:
1Recipe by: sspahn@ wash a jar or jars and lids in hot soapy water; rinse.
2Use sound ripe fruit, just a few pieces of each type, and wipe fruit gently.
3Do not wash, peel or pit fruit.
4Only melon should be peeled, seeded and cut in large chunks.
5Layer fruit and sugar in prepared jar.
6Stir lightly.
7Pour rum over fruit to cover.
8Seal jar tightly.
9Let mature in cool dark place 3 months.
10The rumpot can be added to as more fruit becomes available.
11Always add equivalent sugar and more rum to cover fruit.
12Serve with cream or yogurt, add to fresh fruit salad, or use of fill hollowed out melon or tart shells
