| lbs | Red cabbage, shredded | | 6
| tbsp | Butter | | 1
| lbs | Green apples, quartered | | 1/2
| lbs | Onions, sliced | | 2
| | Cl Garlic, finely chopped | | 1/4
| tsp | Nutmeg, allspice, cinnamon | | 1
| | Grated orange rind, (opt.) | | 1/4
| cup | Brown sugar, packed | | 2
| tbsp | Wine vinegar | | 1 1/4
| cup | Dry red wine |
