Scalloped potatoes (marge clark)

Procedures:
13 tbsp butter 2 tbsp flour 1 ?tsp salt ?tsp pepper 3 c milk 6 mdm potatoes, pared and thinly sliced (6 c) 2 tbsp chopped onion
2preheat oven to 350 degrees.
3Butter a 2 qt casserole.
4Make a basic white sauce of butter, flour, salt, pepper & milk.
5Place half the potatoes in casserole.
6Cover with half the onion and half the sauce.
7Repeat layers.
8Cover and bake about an hour.
9(i like to cook it a bit longer, about 1 hour and 15 minutes before uncovering it).
10Test to make sure potatoes are almost, but not quite, fork tender.
11Uncover and bake 30 minutes longer.
12left over cooked ham layered in the middle makes it almost a one dish meal, and is a good addition...tho i usually serve this with ham to begin with.
13serves 4-6 (the recipe says...i say 4 max!)
