Ingredients:

| cup | Butter or margarine, cut up | | 1
| | Egg, slightly beaten | | 1
| tbsp | Fresh lemon juice | | 4
| tbsp | Water, iced | | | FILLING | | 6
| | Egg yolks | | 3/4
| cup | Sugar | | 1/8
| tsp | Salt | | 3/4
| cup | Brazil nuts -OR- almonds | | | - pulverized | | 1/3
| cup | Dark -OR- light raisins | | 3
| cup | Tart appples, shredded | | | - about 3 large | | 1/2
| tsp | Cinnamon | | 6
| tbsp | Apricot jam | | 6
| tbsp | Butter or margarine, melted | | | SERVE WITH | | | Slightly sweetened whipped | | | - cream | | | Toasted slivered almonds |

Procedures:
| 1 | Mix flour and sugar in bowl. | | 2 | Cut butter into mixture until pieces are the size of peas. | | 3 | Blend the egg, lemon juice and 3 tbls water. | | 4 | Sprinkle over the dry ingredients. | | 5 | Toss with fork until four is moistened. | | 6 | Press into a ball. | | 7 | Add last tbls of water if needed. | | 8 | Roll pastry into a 9x13" baking pan, building the edge up about 1". | | 9 | In small bowl, beat egg yolks until fluffy. | | 10 | Add sugar and salt. | | 11 | Beat at high speed until thick and lemon colored. | | 12 | Blend in the nuts and raisins. | | 13 | Fold in the appples and cinnamon. | | 14 | Spread apricot jam over the pastry. | | 15 | Top with apple-nut mixture. | | 16 | Bake at 350°F for 25 minutes. | | 17 | Drizzle with melted butter. | | 18 | Return to oven. | | 19 | Bake 15-20 minutes longer until top is golden. | | 20 | Cut into squares. | | 21 | Serve warm with slightly sweetened whipped cream and garnished with almonds |
