| 2 | peel, quarter and seed squash. |
| 3 | Cut into ?inch slices. |
| 4 | Saute in butter and oil until lightly browned (2 - 3 minutes). |
| 5 | Butter a 1 quart baking dish. |
| 6 | Place half of squash in dish. |
| 7 | Sprinkle with salt and pepper. |
| 8 | Pour on half of a mixture of the cream and madeira. |
| 9 | Top with remaining squash and season. |
| 10 | Pour on remaining cream and madeira mixture. |
| 11 | Combine bread crumbs and nuts with melted butter and sprinkle on top. |
| 12 | Bake at 325°F for 45 minutes or until squash is done. |
