Jansson's temptation

Ingredients:
6 medSized potatoes, peeled and
-cut into 2x?inch strips
-2 tbsp butter
2 medSize onions, thinly sliced
1 3-?oz can Swedish anchovy
-fillets
1 dashOf pepper
2 tbspBread crumbs
3 tbspButter
3/4 cupCream or half and half
Procedures:
1Preheat oven to 400°F.
2Keep potato strips incold water to prevent discoloration.
3Melt 2 tbsp butter in skillet and add onions; cook until soft but not brown, about 5 minutes.
4Pat potatoes dry.
5Arange layers of potatoe, onion and anchovies in a greased 1 ?to 2 quart baking dish.
6Begin and end with potatoes.
7Dot casserole with butter and sprinkle with pepper and bread crumbs.
8Pour cream around the casserole.
9Bake in the center of the oven until the potatoes are tender and most of the liquid is absorbed, about 45-60 minutes.
10Serves 4-6.
