Turnip, carrot, and split pea soup

Ingredients:
3/4 cupDried split peas
2 tbspMargarine
1 medOnion, chopped
1 cupCarrots, chopped
1 cupTurnip, chopped
2 cupVegetable stock
Salt & pepper to taste
Procedures:
1Wash peas and soak them overnight in cold water, or in hot water for one hour.
2Drain them and set aside.
3Heat the butter in a saucepan and saute the onion until light brown.
4Add the carrots and turnip and continue cooking 5 mins.
5Add the peas and veg stock, and stir well.
6Cover the pan, bring to a boil, and simmer 1 - 1 ?hours until the peas are really tender.
7Stir occasionally, and add water if necessary.
8Season to taste.
