Grandma wexler's baked beans

Ingredients:
1/2 lbsBacon, diced
1 medOnion, minced
1 galWater
1/2 cupMolasses
1/2 cupBrown sugar
2 cupKetchup
2 tbspPrepared mustard
1 1/2 lbsNavy beans, picked over
Rinsed, and soaked
Overnight in water to cover
Salt and freshly ground
Pepper to taste
Procedures:
1Saute bacon in large pot until browned; add onion and cook until browned, about 4 minutes.
2Add water, molasses, brown sugar, and mustard; bring to a boil.
3Drain beans and add to pot; return to boiling, reduce heat to a slow simmer.
4Cook 4 to 5 hours until beans are soft, adding water as necessary.
5Season with salt and pepper.
6Makes 20 servings.
