Ingredients:

| | Medium red onion | | 2
| tbsp | Worcestershire sauce | | 2
| tbsp | Balsamic vinegar | | 2
| tbsp | Soy sauce | | 2
| tbsp | Olive oil | | 3/4
| tsp | Pepper |

Procedures:
| 1 | Cut ?inch slice off top and bottom of each onion and discard. | | 2 | Cut onions in half crosswise. | | 3 | Arrange onions in single layer in shallow dish. | | 4 | Whisk worcestershire, vinegar, soy sauce and oil in bowl. | | 5 | Pour over onions and let stand at room temperature 1 hour, basting occasionally. | | 6 | prepare barbecue (medium-high heat). | | 7 | Arrange onions on grill. | | 8 | Cover grill and cook onions until brown, basting occasionally, about 4 minutes per side. | | 9 | Using large spatula, transfer onions to platter. | | 10 | Season with pepper. | | 11 | recipe from the july 1992 issue of bon appetit. |
