Maple-rum-glazed apple compote

Ingredients:
1/2 cupCurrants
1/2 cupDark rum
3 medGala or fuji apples, peeled/
-halved/finely chopped
1 1/2 tbspUnsalted butter
1/4 cupMaple syrup
Procedures:
1Place currants in a small bowl.
2Add rum and mix well.
3Set aside for 20 minutes.
4Combine apples and butter in a large saute pan.
5Cook over high heat, stirring often, for 3 minutes.
6Add currants and rum (if the rum ignites, cover pan with a large lid until the flames die down, about 15 seconds), and cook for 1 ?minutes.
7Add maple syrup.
8Cook, stirring occasionally, for 2 minutes.
9Serve immediately or refrigerate in a tightly sealed container up to 5 days.
