Ingredients:

| | Shallots, chopped | | 2
| | Stalks celery, sliced | | 2
| med | Carrots, coarsely chopped | | 2
| med | Potatoes, diced | | 1
| tbsp | Ground coriander | | 2
| tsp | Ground cumin | | 1/2
| tsp | Ground cinnamon | | 1/4
| tsp | Ground cloves | | | Ds Nutmeg, ground | | 2
| lbs | Pumpkin, peeled, seeded | | | -and coarsely chopped | | 5
| cup | Vegetable stock | | | Plain yogurt | | | Cilantro leaves |

Procedures:
| 1 | Heat oil in 3-quart saucepan. | | 2 | Add shallots and celery and saute 5 minutes. | | 3 | Add carrots and potatoes and saute 5 minutes longer. | | 4 | Add coriander, cumin, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg. | | 5 | Stir-fry 2 minutes. | | 6 | Add pumpkin and vegetable stock, bring to boil, cover and simmer gently 20 minutes, or until all vegetables are tender. | | 7 | Blend soup in food processor or blender until smooth. | | 8 | Return to pan, adjust seasonings to taste and heat through. | | 9 | Serve hot, garnished with swirl of yogurt and cilantro leaves. | | 10 | Makes 4 to 6 servings. | | 11 | "miff" is pickford"s aunt, who served this soup at guy fawkes night celebrations every nov. | | 12 | It"s also perfect for halloween |
