| tbsp | Olive oil | | 1
| | Onion, finely chopped | | 1
| | Garlic clove, crushed | | 1
| tbsp | Tomato paste | | 1/2
| tsp | Sugar | | 1
| tbsp | Fresh basil, chopped | | | Salt and pepper |

Procedures:
| 1 | Make tomato topping. | | 2 | Chop tomatoes, if using fresh. | | 3 | Heat oil in a medium saucepan. | | 4 | Add onion and garlic; cook until soft. | | 5 | Stir in tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar and basil. | | 6 | Season to taste with salt and pepper. | | 7 | Cover pan and simmer 30 minutes until thick. | | 8 | Preheat oven to 425°F. | | 9 | Spread the dough with tomato topping. | | 10 | Sprinkle with cheese. | | 11 | Drain artichokes, reserving oil. | | 12 | Drain tomatoes. | | 13 | Slice artichokes and arrange over the cheese. | | 14 | Chop tomatoes roughly and sprinkle over the artichokes. | | 15 | Season to taste with salt and pepper. | | 16 | Sprinkle with 1 to 2 tablespoons of the reserved oil. | | 17 | Bake 20 minutes until dough is golden. | | 18 | Garnish with parsley. |
