Ingredients:
| 19
| oz | Can chickpeas | | 1
| tsp | Baking soda | | 3
| tbsp | Tahini | | 1
| each | Garlic clove, chopped | | | Juice of 1 ?lemons | | 1/2
| tsp | Salt | | 2
| tbsp | Cold water | | 1
| tbsp | Pine nuts | | 1
| tbsp | Olive oil |

Procedures:
| 1 | Combine chickpeas with their juice with baking soda & bring to a boil. | | 2 | Immediately remove from heat, drain & rinse thoroughly. | | 3 | In a food processor, combine chickpeas, tahini, garlic, lemon juice, salt & 1 tb of water. | | 4 | Blend till creamy. | | 5 | Add rest of the water if mixture apears too thick. | | 6 | Refrigerate. | | 7 | Heat olive oil & fry pine nuts till golden brown. | | 8 | When ready to serve, sprinkle over hummus. | | 9 | Serve cold with pita bread. | | 10 | "the hamilton spectator", july 1993 |
