Ingredients:
1 lbsFresh ripe red cherries
1 cupFlour, all purpose
1/4 cupSugar
1/3 cupMilk
1/3 cupDry white wine
3 Eggs
-fat for frying
Confectioner's sugar
Cinnamon
Procedures:
1"fresh fruit coated with batter and deep fried is a favorite dessert in several eastern european countries.
2Plums, apples or currants are prepared in the same manner.
3In hungary this dessert is called cseresznye kisutve".
4Wash cherries and wipe dry.
5Do not remove stems.
6Tie with thread to form clusters of 4 cherries.
7Combine flour, sugar, milk, wine and eggs in a bowl.
8Mix to make a smooth batter.
9Dip each cluster of cherries into batter, coating well; and drop into a kettle of deep hot fat (375f on frying thermometer).
10When golden, remove with a slotted spoon and drain.
11Serve at once with confectioner"s sugar and cinnamon.
