Ingredients:

| cup | Flour | | 1
| tbsp | Sugar | | 1/2
| tsp | Salt | | 1/2
| cup | Vegetable oil | | 1
| tbsp | Milk | | | FILLING | | 5
| med | Tart apples, peeled, cored | | | - and sliced | | 4
| tbsp | White -OR- brown sugar | | 1
| tbsp | Cornstarch | | 1
| tbsp | Lemon juice | | | CARAMEL ALMOND TOPPING | | 1/4
| cup | Butter or margarine, soft | | 1/2
| cup | Sugar | | 2
| tbsp | Flour | | 2
| tbsp | Milk | | 1
| tsp | Cinnamon | | 3
| oz | Almonds, sliced | | | Sour cream |

Procedures:
| 1 | In small bowl, stir together flour, sugar and salt. | | 2 | With fork, beat together salad oil and milk. | | 3 | Stir oil mix itno flour mix to make a soft dough. | | 4 | Press dough into 9" pie plate or 10" shallow au-gratin dish. | | 5 | Press edges to make sides about 1" high in gratin dish; make sides come to top of pie plate. | | 6 | Bake at 425°F for 10-12 minutes or until golden. | | 7 | While crust bakes, prepare apples. | | 8 | Mix with sugar, cornstarch and lemon juice. | | 9 | Turn into baked pie shell. | | 10 | Melt butter in skillet. | | 11 | Add sugar, flour, cinnamon and almonds. | | 12 | Boil 1 minute, stirring. | | 13 | Pour over apples in pan to coat evenly. | | 14 | Bake at 425°F for 25-30 minutes or until caramel topping is golden and bubbly. | | 15 | Cool before serving. | | 16 | Excellant served with sour cream, or may serve with lightly sweetned whipped cream |
