| cup | Molasses | | 2
| cup | Finely chopped dried figs | | 1/2
| tsp | Grated lemon peel | | 1
| cup | Buttermilk | | 2 1/2
| cup | Sifted flour | | 1/2
| tsp | Baking soda | | 2
| tsp | Baking powder | | 1
| tsp | Ground ginger | | 1
| tsp | Salt | | | HOT WINE SAUCE | | 1/2
| cup | Butter | | 1
| cup | Sugar | | 2
| | Eggs | | 3/4
| cup | Dry sherry | | 1
| tsp | Grated lemon peel | | 1/4
| tsp | Nutmeg |

Procedures:
| 1 | Pudding: cream butter until soft. | | 2 | Beat in eggs and molasses until fluffy. | | 3 | Stir in figs, lemon peel and buttermilk. | | 4 | Resift flour with soda, baking powder, ginger and salt. | | 5 | Stir dry ingredients into pudding mixture. | | 6 | Pour into greased 9 inch tube pan. | | 7 | bake at 325 degrees 1 hour until done. | | 8 | Meanwhile, to make sauce, cream butter and sugar until light. | | 9 | Beat in eggs. | | 10 | Stir in sherry, lemon peel and nutmeg. | | 11 | Shortly before serving, beat sauce over hot water in double boiler. | | 12 | Heat thoroughly. | | 13 | Serve with hot pudding. |
