Dill cornmeal dumplings

Ingredients:
1 1/4 cupFlour, all-purpose
1/3 cupYellow cornmeal
1 tbspDill, finely chopped
2 1/2 tspBaking powder
1/2 tspSalt
3 tbspVegetable shortening, chilld
1 cupMilk
Procedures:
1In a medium bowl, combine the first 5 ingredients.
2With 2 knives or your fingers, cut in the shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
3Add the milk, stirring with a fork, just until the mixture holds together.
4With a large spoon, drop dumpling batter in 8 spoonfuls over the stew.
5Simmer over medium-low heat, covered, about 16 minutes, or until the dumplings are done.
