Fall feast - corn chowder

Ingredients:
1 tbspVegetable oil
3 sliceBacon, chopped
1 smallOnion, ?inch dice
1 cupNew potatoes, ?in dice
1/2 cupCelery, ?inch dice
1/2 cupGreen pepper, ?in dice
2 cupChicken stock
1 cupMilk
1 tbspFresh thyme, chopped, or
1/2 tspDried thyme
2 cupCorn
1/4 cupWhipping ream
2 tbspFresh parsley, chopped
Salt
Pepper
Hot pepper sauce
Procedures:
1On medium heat, heat oil in pot and add bacon.
2When bacon has released its fat, add onion and potatoes and saut for 2 minutes.
3add celery and green pepper and saut another minute.
4add stock and bring to boil.
5Add milk, thyme and simmer together for 10 minutes or until vegetables are crisp-tender.
6if using ear of corn: with a knife, slice corn kernels into bowl and reserve together with can corn liquid.
7Add corn to soup pot, together with whipping cream, and simmer for 5 minutes more or until corn is tender.
8stir in parsley.
9Season well with salt, pepper and hot pepper sauce [to taste].
10serve with semi-dry riesling wine.
