Ingredients:
3/4 cupDried onion flakes
2 (?oz) dried
Celery flakes
1/2 cupDried parsley flakes
3 tbspDried basil
3 tbspDried oregano
2 tspGarlic powder
2 tspCoarsely ground pepper
2 (2-?oz beef-
Flavored bouillon granules
1 16 ozs pk dried black-eyed
-peas
1 16 ozs pk dried kidney beans
1 16 ozs pk dried navy beans
1 16 ozs pk small shell pasta
Uncooked
Procedures:
1Combine first 7 ingredients; divide evenly, and place in 6 airtight plastic bags.
2Add 2 tablespoon plus ?teaspoon bouillon granules to each package.
3Label "herb mix" and seal.
4Combine black-eyed peas and next 3 ingredients; divide evenly and place in 6 airtight plastic bags.
5Label "bean mix" and seal.
6Place one bag herb mix, 1 bag bean mix, and bag pasta in a gift container; repeat procedure with remaining bags.
7Yield: 6 (3-bags) gifts.
8Directions for gift recipe card: sort and wash bean mix; place in a dutch oven.
9Cover with water 2 inches above beans; soak 8 hours.
10Drain.
11Combine beans, 3 quarts water, herb mix, 1 carrot, chopped, and 2/3 cup chopped cooked ham in dutch oven.
12Bring to a boil; reduce heat, and simmer 2-?hours, stirring occasionally.
13Add 1 (14-?ounce) can mexican-style stewed tomatoes,undrained, and pasta; cook 20 minutes.
14Yield: 9 cups note: to use the quick-soak method, place beans in a dutch oven; cover with water 2 inches above beans.
15Bring to a boil.
16Remove from heat; cover, and let stand 1 hour. drain.
