| cup | Hot coffee | | 1
| cup | Milk | | 2
| | Eggs | | 1
| tsp | Vanilla extract | | | FAVORITE ICING | | 1
| cup | Milk | | 5
| tbsp | All-purpose flour | | 1/2
| cup | Butter, softened | | 1/2
| cup | Shortening | | 1
| cup | Sugar | | 1
| tsp | Vanilla extract |

Procedures:
| 1 | Sift together dry ingredients in a mixing bowl. | | 2 | Add oil, coffee, and milk; mix at medium speed for 2 minutes. | | 3 | Add eggs and vanilla; beat 2 more minutes. | | 4 | (batter will be thin). | | 5 | Pour into 2 greased and floured 9"x1 ? cake pans. | | 6 | Bake at 325°F for 25-30 minutes. | | 7 | Cool cakes 15 minutes before removing from pans. | | 8 | Cool on wire racks. | | 9 | Meanwhile, for icing, combine milk and flour in saucepan; cook until thick. | | 10 | Cover and refrigerate. | | 11 | In a mixing bowl, beat butter, shortening, sugar and vanilla until creamy. | | 12 | Add chilled milk/flour mixture and beat for 10 minutes. | | 13 | Frost cooled cake. |
