Ingredients:
2 cupAll-purpose flour
1 tspSalt
1 tspBaking powder
2 tspBaking soda
3/4 cupUnsweetened cocoa
2 cupSugar
1 cupVegetable oil
1 cupHot coffee
1 cupMilk
2 Eggs
1 tspVanilla extract
FAVORITE ICING
1 cupMilk
5 tbspAll-purpose flour
1/2 cupButter, softened
1/2 cupShortening
1 cupSugar
1 tspVanilla extract
Procedures:
1Sift together dry ingredients in a mixing bowl.
2Add oil, coffee, and milk; mix at medium speed for 2 minutes.
3Add eggs and vanilla; beat 2 more minutes.
4(batter will be thin).
5Pour into 2 greased and floured 9"x1 ? cake pans.
6Bake at 325°F for 25-30 minutes.
7Cool cakes 15 minutes before removing from pans.
8Cool on wire racks.
9Meanwhile, for icing, combine milk and flour in saucepan; cook until thick.
10Cover and refrigerate.
11In a mixing bowl, beat butter, shortening, sugar and vanilla until creamy.
12Add chilled milk/flour mixture and beat for 10 minutes.
13Frost cooled cake.
