Ingredients:

| | -?French bread loaf | | 3 1/2
| cup | Milk | | 1/2
| cup | Sugar | | 4
| large | Island eggs | | 2
| tsp | Vanilla extract | | 1/2
| tsp | Salt | | 1/2
| cup | Raisins | | 4
| tbsp | Butter | | | Nutmeg |

Procedures:
| 1 | Break up 1/3 to ?loaf of stale french bread (microwave for 1 minute if too stale to break up) and put it in a 1 ?to 2 quart casserole dish. | | 2 | Pour a little of the milk on the stale bread to soften. | | 3 | Whisk 4 island eggs; add sugar and mix well. | | 4 | Pour in milk, vanilla and salt. | | 5 | Mix. | | 6 | Add raisins and pour over bread. | | 7 | Gently mix. | | 8 | Dot with soft butter and freshly grated nutmeg. | | 9 | Place casserole in a pan that has about 1-2 inches water and place the whole thing in the oven. | | 10 | Bake at 350 °F for about 50 minutes. | | 11 | Me ke aloha, mary | | 12 | notes : "haawi ae i ka pukini!" |
