Old south banana pudding

Ingredients:
1/2 cupSugar
3 tbspFlour
1 dashSalt
1 Egg
3 Eggs -- separated
2 cupMilk
1/2 tspVanilla extract
3 Dozen
3 largeBananas -- sliced
1/4 cupSugar
Procedures:
1: vanilla wafers
2combine ?cup sugar, flour and salt in top of a double boiler; mix well.
3Stir in 1 egg, 3 egg yolks and milk; mix well.
4Place over boiling water; cook, stirring constantly, until smooth and thickened.
5Remove from heat; stir in vanilla.
6Spread about ?cup pudding in a 1 ?quart casserole; arrange 1 dozen vanilla wafers over top of pudding.
7Top with 1/3 banana slices and 1/3 of remaining pudding.
8Repeat layers twice.
9Beat 3 egg whites (at room temperature) at high speed 1 minute.
10Gradually, add ?cup sugar, 1 tbsp. at a time, beating until stiff peaks form and sugar dissolves (2-4 minutes).
11Spread meringue over pudding, sealing to edge of casserole.
12Bake at 350 °F for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
