| tbsp | Oregano, dried, crushed | | 1

| | Bay leaf |

Procedures:
| 1 | Calories per serving: 157°Fat grams per serving: 6 approx. cook time: 1:00 wash peas; add five cups boiling water. | | 2 | Parboil three minutes. | | 3 | Remove from heat, cover and soak four hours. | | 4 | Drain and rinse peas. | | 5 | Saute onion and garlic in oil until onion is tender. | | 6 | Add soaked peas, ham, 1 ?cups water and seasonings. | | 7 | Bring to a boil. | | 8 | Reduce heat and simmer, covered, until beans and rice are tender (approximately 25 to 30 minutes). | | 9 | Remove bay leaf before serving. |
