Red cabbage with apples and red wine

Ingredients:
2 sliceBacon, diced
1 medRed cabbage, sliced thin
1 cupRed wine
1/2 cupBrown sugar
2 Apples, peeled and diced
1/4 cupCider vinegar
Salt to taste
Procedures:
1Cook bacon slowly in medium saucepan until brown and crisp.
2Remove from pan with slotted spoon.
3Place cabbage slices in pan with wine, sugar, apples, vinegar, and salt.
4Cook uncovered at low heat until cabbage is tender, about 30 minutes.
5Sprinkle with bacon just before serving.
6(good with rich meats, particularly pork).
